Stocks Ended Mixed Friday, Higher for the Week

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Friday, but finished higher for the week ahead of the Memorial Day holiday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 2.67 points, or 0.01%, to 21,080.28, .The S&P 500 was up 0.75 point, or 0.03%, to 2,415.82. The Nasdaq Composite gained 4.94 points, or 0.08%, to 6,210.19. For the week, the Dow finished up 1.3% and the S&P 500 gained 1.4%, while the Nasdaq advanced 2.1%.

Crude-oil prices rebounded Friday on the heels of Thursday’s near-5% drop. July West Texas Intermediate crude added 90 cents, or 1.8%, to settle at $49.80 a barrel . It settled about 1.7% lower for the week. July Brent crude climbed 69 cents, or 1.3%, to $52.15—down about 2.7% for the week.
