Stocks Edged Higher at Open

U.S. stocks opened marginally higher on Monday as geopolitics kept investors cautious. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately climbed 50.80 points, or 0.25%, to 20,706.90. The S&P 500 gained 6.68 points, or 0.28%, to 2,362.22. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 20.19 points, or 0.34%, to 5,898.00.

Crude-oil futures started the week higher, building on their recent gains. Light, sweet crude futures for delivery in May were recently up 32 cents, or 0.6%, at $52.56 a barrel. June Brent crude added 41 cents to $55.65, gaining 0.7%.

Tesla Inc. shares (TSLA) rocketed another 3% to a fresh record in early trade Monday, after Piper Jaffray upgraded the stock to the equivalent of buy from neutral and raised its price target by 65% to $368 from $223.

Fidelity Investments Inc has become the first financial institution to join the Initiative for CryptoCurrencies & Contracts, a group of academic institutions and technology companies looking to develop blockchain-based technology.

Barclays (BARC.L) has reprimanded Chief Executive Jes Staley and will cut his bonus for attempting to uncover a whistleblower’s identity, the British bank said on Monday, dealing a blow to a man who has been in the role little over 15 months.
