Stocks Ended Slightly Higher as Energy Shares Rebounded

U.S. stocks finished slightly higher on Thursday on the back of a rebound in energy shares. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 2.46 points, or 0.01%, to 20,858.19. The S&P 500 edged up 1.89 points, or 0.08%, to 2,364.87. The Nasdaq Composite added 1.26 points, or 0.02%, to 5,838.81.

Oil prices sank below $50 a barrel on Thursday for the first time this year, as the market worried that growing U.S. crude producers may undermine efforts to rebalance global supply and demand. April West Texas Intermediate crude slid $1 or 2%, to settle at $49.28 a barrel. May Brent crude lost 92 cents, or 1.7%, to $52.19 a barrel.

Electronics retailer RadioShack has filed for its second bankruptcy in two years and will immediately close 187 more stores, about 12% of its remaining 1,500 locations.
