Stocks Ended at Record High

U.S. stocks ended higher on Tuesday, with both the Dow and Nasdaq Composite closed at fresh all-time highs, as the market’s recent upward trend continued unabated. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 91.56 points, or 0.46%, to 19,974.62. The S&P 500 gained 8.23 points, or 0.36%, to 2,270.76. The Nasdaq Composite added 26.50 points, or 0.49%, to 5,483.94.

Crude-oil prices finished higher on Tuesday, scoring a third straight session of gains. West Texas Intermediate crude oil for February delivery rose 24 cents, or 0.5%, higher to settle at $53.30 a barrel. February Brent crude added 43 cents, or 0.8%, to close at $55.35 a barrel.

Volkswagen Group has agreed to buy back about 20,000 polluting 3-liter, 6-cylinder diesel vehicles in the U.S., fix another approximately 63,000 vehicles and pay $225 million in environmental remediation.
