Stocks Eked Out Small Gains

U.S. stocks eked out small gains and ended mostly higher on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 27.53 points, or 0.16%, to 17,758.21. The S&P 500 was up 3.14 points, or 0.15%, to 2,081.72. The Nasdaq Composite was down 12.06 points, or 0.24%, to 5,083.24.

T-Mobile (TMUS) announced a new program on Tuesday to allow customers to watch many popular online video services on their phones without counting against their monthly data allowances.

Molson Coors Brewing Co is nearing a deal to buy the rest of its U.S. joint venture with SABMiller Plc, MillerCoors LLC, for more than $10 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported.

McDonald’s Corp. won’t spin off its vast U.S. real estate holdings, as some investors had pushed it to do, Chief Executive Steve Easterbrook said.

Oil prices rose slightly higher on Tuesday. December crude oil settled up 34 cents, or 0.8%, to $44.21 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent, the global benchmark, gained 25 cents, or 0.5%, to $47.44 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. Both snapped a four-session losing streak.
