Stocks Rally As Greece Accepts Deal

U.S. stocks opened significantly higher on Monday after eurozone leaders over the weekend reached an agreement for a third bailout program for Greece. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately jumped 185.27 points, or 1.04%, to 17,945.68. The S&P 500 gained 18.91 points, or 0.91%, to 2,095.53. The Nasdaq Composite wad up 55.94 points, or 1.12%, to 5,053.63.

Greece and its European creditors announced an agreement here on Monday that aims to resolve the country’s debt crisis and keep it in the eurozone, but that will require further budgetary belt-tightening that Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras could have trouble selling back in Athens.The agreement does not guarantee that Greece will receive its third bailout in five years. But it does allow the start of detailed negotiations on a new assistance package for Greece.

The oil market should be more balanced next year as China and the developing world use more oil while supply of fuel from North American shale grows more slowly, OPEC said on Monday.
