Stocks Rose at the Open

U.S. stocks rose at the open on Friday, rebounding from the prior day’s losses and staying on track for solid weekly gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately gained 105.93 points, or 0.59%, to 18,064.96. The S&P 500 was up 12.83 points, or 0.61%, to 2,102.10. The Nasdaq Composie added 34.94 points, or 0.70%, to 5,027.32.

Child car seat maker Graco will pay a $10 million fine for failing to give timely notice of car seats with defective buckles, ending a federal investigation into the nation’s largest recall of child seats, the U.S. regulators and the company said on Friday.

KB Home Inc. (KBH), the homebuilder, posted better-than-expected profit and revenue for its fiscal first quarter. The company said it had net income of $7.8 million, or 8 cents a share, in the quarter, down from $10.6 million, or 12 cents a share, in the year-earlier period. Revenue rose to $580.1 million from $450.7 million.

Online retail giant Amazon.com has received a go-ahead from the federal government to try out its plan to use drones to deliver merchandise to customers.
