Stocks Post Weekly Losses

U.S. stocks rose modestly on Friday, but finished the week with the worst losses in two months. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 41.55 points, or 0.25%, to 16,775.74, but lost 0.9% over the past five days. The S&P 500 closed 6.05 points, or 0.31%, to 1,936.16, but recorded a 0.7% loss over the week. The Nasdaq Composite ended the day up 13.02 points, or 0.30% at 4,310.65 and declined 0.3% over the week.

General Motors Co recalled 511,528 Chevrolet Camaros on Friday for an ignition switch problem similar to the defect linked to at least 13 deaths in Chevrolet Cobalts and other models.

Vermont was sued by the packaged food industry in the first of what may be a series of lawsuits to block genetically modified organisms or GMO labeling requirements.
