Stocks End Slightly Higher, Extending Five-Week Rally

U.S. stocks fluctuated between slight gains and losses on Monday as investors waited for some
direction from economic data or the Federal Reserve. The Dow Jones Industrial Average tacked on
21.32 points, or 0.14%, to finish at 15,783.10. The S&P 500 gained 1.28 points, or 0.07%, to close
1,771.89. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.56 point, or o.01%, to end at 3,919.79.

Giant online retailer Amazon.com Inc. is turning up the heat on rivals this holiday season and
beyond under a new deal with the U.S.

Transocean Ltd. (RIG), the world’s largest offshore rig contractor, will boost its dividend and
cut costs as part of an agreement with Carl Icahn, months after winning a shareholder battle with
the billionaire investor.

Walt Disney Co. (DIS:US) named Jimmy Pitaro sole president of its interactive business, assuming
duties held by John Pleasants in a shake-up less than a week after the unit reported its second-
ever quarterly profit.
