Stocks Opened Higher, Silver Prices Surged

U.S. stocks opened higher on Monday, recovering some losses after last week’s selloff, as silver prices surged. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 233.05 points, or 0.78%, to 30,215.67. The S&P 500 advanced 36.41 points, or 0.98%, to 3,750.65. The Nasdaq Composite gained 181.17 points, or 1.39%, to 13,251.87.

Oil futures gain ground Monday, buoyed in part by a survey indicating crude output by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries rose less than expected in January. West Texas Intermediated crude for March delivery rose 36 cents, or 0.7%, to $52.56 a barrel. April Brent crude was up 55 cents, or 1%, at $55.59 a barrel.
