Stocks Opened Higher amid Earnings, Stimulus Talks

U.S. stocks opened higher on Monday, led by tech stocks, as investors looked ahead to a round of quarterly corporate earnings results and stimulus talks also remained in focus. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 121.58 points, or 0.43%, to 28,708.48. The S&P 500 added 25.73 points, or 0.74%, to 3,502.86. The Nasdaq Composite gained 146.16 points, or 1.26%, to 11,726.11.
Crude-oil futures traded lower Monday, under pressure as Libya lifted force majeure at its largest oil field. West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery fell 55 cents, or 1.4%, to $40.05 a barrel. December Brent crude was down 54 cents, or 1.3%, at $42.31 a barrel.
