Stocks Ended Mostly Lower, Nasdaq Hit New High

U.S. stocks ended mostly lower on Tuesday, with the Nasdaq setting fresh closing high, while S&P 500 and Dow declining. The Dow Jones Industrial Average retreated 300.14 points, or 1.09%, to 27,272.30. The S&P 500 fell 25.21 points, or 0.78%, to 3,207.18. The Nasdaq Composite gained 29.01 points, or 0.29%, to 9,953.75.

Crude oil futures gave up earlier losses on Tuesday to finish higher. West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery rose 75 cents, or 2%, to settle at $38.94 a barrel. Brent oil for August delivery tacked on 38 cents, or 0.9%, to $41.18 a barrel.
