Stocks Traded Mixed, Trade and Italy Remained in Focus

U.S. stocks were mixed in early trading on Tuesday as continued concerns over U.S.-China trade tensions and turmoil surrounding Italy’s budget plans weighed on sentiment. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 11.85 points, or 0.04%, to 26,663.06. The S&P 500 was down 0.54 point, or 0.01%, to 2,924.05. The Nasdaq Composite was down 2.89 points, or 0.04%, to 8,034.41.

Oil futures pulled back from four-year highs early Tuesday as investors awaited crude inventory reports that could influence trade that has been thus far supported by sliding Iranian output. November West Texas Intermediate crude fell 5 cents, or less than 0.1 %, at $75.25 a barrel. December Brent fell by 48 cents, or 0.6%, at $84.49 a barrel.

Tesla Inc produced 53,239 of its Model 3 sedans in the third quarter and delivered 55,840 of the vehicles to customers, the company said on Tuesday. The company also said it produced 80,142 total vehicles in the third quarter.

PepsiCo Inc (PEP.O) posted stronger-than-expected profit on Tuesday. Net income attributable to the company rose to $2.50 billion, or $1.75 per share, in the third quarter, from $2.14 billion, or $1.49 per share, a year earlier.
