U.S.stocks closed lower on Friday, as technology stocks led the decline on nerves about upcoming earnings reports and iPhone demand. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 201.95 points, or 0.82%, to 24,462.94. The S&P 500 lost 22.99 points, or 0.85%, to 2,670.14. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 91.93 points, or 1.27%, to 7,146.13. For the week, the Dow rose 0.4%, the S&P was up 0.5% and the Nasdaq rose 0.6%.
Oil prices settled with a modest gain Friday, shaking off earlier weakness sparked by a tweet from U.S. President Donald Trump, to finish higher for the week. May West Texas Intermediate crude edged up by 9 cents, or 0.1%, to settle at $68.38 a barrel and ended the week 1.5% higher. June Brent crude rose 28 cents, or 0.4%, to $74.06 a barrel. It rose 2% for the week.
