Dow Ended at Record for Eighth Straight Session

U.S. stocks closed higher on Friday, with the Dow ending at a record for an eighth straight session following a robust jobs report. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 66.71 points, or 0.30%, to 22,092.81, adding 1.2% for the week. The S&P 500 climbed 4.67 points, or 0.19%, to 2,476.83, for a weekly gain of 0.2%. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 11.22 points, or 0.18%, to 6,351.56 but fell 0.4% for the week.

Oil futures finished sharply higher on Friday, but booked a weekly loss. West Texas Intermediate for delivery in September gained 55 cents, or 1.1%, to $49.58 a barrel. For the week, WTI slipped 0.3%. October Brent crude climbed 41 cents, or 0.8%, to settle at $52.42 a barrel, down about 0.4% for the week.

Toyota Motor Corp said on Friday it planned to take a 5 percent share of smaller Japanese rival Mazda Motor Corp, as part of an alliance that will see the two build a $1.6 billion U.S. assembly plant and work together on electric vehicles.

Wells Fargo & Co (WFC will pay the U.S. government $108 million to settle a whistleblower lawsuit claiming it charged military veterans hidden fees to refinance their mortgages, and concealed the fees when applying for federal loan guarantees.
