Stocks Closed Lower on Uncertainty over Trump’s Policies

U.S. stocks closed lower on Monday, as investors wrestled with uncertainty over the policies of President Donald Trump. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 27.40 points, or 0.14%, to 19,799.85. The S&P 500 shed 6.11 points, or 0.27%, to 2,265.20. The Nasdaq Composite was down 2.39 points, or 0.04%, to 5,552.94.
Oil futures finished lower Monday as concerns over the potential for a sizable increase in U.S. crude production outweighed support from Saudi Arabia’s energy minister. March West Texas Intermediate crude fell by 47 cents, or 0.9%, to settle at $52.75 a barrel. March Brent crude lost 26 cents, or 0.5%, to $55.23 a barrel.
Yahoo Inc reported a 15.4 percent rise in quarterly revenue on Monday, ahead of a proposed sale of its core internet business to Verizon Communications Inc. Net income attributable to Yahoo was $162 million, or 17 cents per share, compared with a loss of $4.43 billion, or $4.70 per share, a year earlier.
