U.S. stocks rose on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rallying past 18,000 for the first time, after an unexpectedly strong report on economic growth. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 64.73 points, or 0.36%, to 18,024.17. The S&P 500 gained 3.63 points, or 0.17%, to 2,082.17. The Nasdaq Composite was down 16.00 points, or 0.33%, at 4,765.42.
Healthcare spending rose a revised 4.6% on an annualized basis in the third quarter when compared to the second quarter, which recorded a 4% rise when compared with the first, a sign consumers may have started spending more for healthcare.
